Lyndsay Rutherford

Middle School Language Arts

I am delighted to be a part of ECCS, and my prayer is that my students will learn to see language as a gift from our Creator.  The Bible says, “Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom.  Though it cost all you have, get understanding.”  The way we write, speak, and listen will impact our ability to perceive information and communicate it to others correctly.  Lord willing, my students will leave my classroom with a greater understanding of who God is and how to communicate his goodness to those around them.

Lyndsay graduated from Auburn University in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies, with a specialization in adolescence.  She is a certified family life educator.  Lyndsay developed a mentoring program at a private middle school in Lanett, Alabama, where she built relationships with students and spoke at weekly club meetings.  After feeling a continued call to work with students, she worked as a church youth intern in West Point, Georgia, for two summers.

After graduating from Auburn, getting married, and moving to Atlanta, Lyndsay worked for a property management company as a leasing consultant.  Although she enjoyed a challenging corporate environment, she became acutely aware that she was spending all of her time in one place, but her heart was elsewhere.  She desperately missed working with students, so she chose to follow God’s leading into the teaching profession.

Lyndsay is a native of Birmingham, Alabama, where she attended a private Christian school from kindergarten through twelfth grade.  This gave her a desire to nurture students in a similar environment.  She enjoys gardening, reading Christian fiction, watching Braves baseball games, renovating houses with her husband, and finding new recipes!!
